Terms of use

Version 2026-10-12. Plain language first; the operator is Pretium Investments LLC ("we").

1. What the service is

The Project Shelf lets students publish coursework they created, after the course professor approves it, and lets visitors view it. Using the service means you accept these terms. If you are under 18, do not create an account.

2. Your account

You sign in with a university email address that belongs to you. Sign-in codes and links are personal; do not share them. You are responsible for what is published under your account. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms or is used to harm the service or other people.

3. Your work and your license

You keep every right you have in the work you upload. By publishing, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, display and transmit the work so the service can show it as you chose, and you grant visitors the license you selected for the project (the default is Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0). You can change the visibility or the license, or remove the work, at any time; copies already made under an earlier license remain licensed.

Only upload work you made or have the right to share. Do not upload personal data about other people that they have not agreed to, confidential employer data, exam materials, or content that infringes someone else's rights. Where your project uses an employer's or a third party's data, you confirm you have permission to show it in the form you uploaded.

4. Professors and courses

A course professor can see every project in their course, approve or decline it for sharing, and take published work down to private. Professors do not grade through the service and professor notes are never published. Approval means the professor confirms the work is the student's coursework; it is not an endorsement of the work's quality or accuracy.

5. The AI assistant

Praxis is optional and off by default. If you turn it on, anything it helps make is labelled AI-assisted, every action it takes is recorded, and you approve each change before it is saved. Turn it off at any time on the AI page.

6. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access other people's private work, probe or overload the service, scrape it at volume, impersonate someone, or post content that is unlawful, harassing, or deceptive. Do not remove provenance ids or license lines from downloaded copies.

7. Removal and retention

You can remove a project or a file yourself. Removed work leaves public view immediately; stored copies and the audit record of what happened are kept for a limited period as described in the Privacy notice, then deleted. Work left public after a course ends may stay public until you or the professor take it down, unless a retention policy says otherwise. Anyone can request a takedown at [email protected]; we act on valid requests promptly.

8. No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided as is. We do not promise it will always be available or error-free, and we are not responsible for how third parties use work you chose to publish. To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us for the service, which for a free account is nothing.

9. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on the service with a new version date, and continued use after that date means you accept them. Questions: [email protected]. Pretium Investments LLC is a Missouri limited liability company; disputes are governed by Missouri law.
